New bus shelters are popping up in our neighborhood as well as everywhere else in this city. This one on Vanderbilt is still under construction, with the sidewalk torn up and the yellow tape still blocking access. But what is complete is the shiny ad for Sex and the City. I guess you can tell where the city’s priorities lie.
Sex and the City Bus Shelter

Actually, that shelter is complete. It’s a new compromise program, balancing urban grit and slinky design by dressing up street furniture like a crime scene.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have these shelters on DeKalb where the volume is greater.
In putting up these shelters they’ve taken down the bus schedules, though. Contemplating the new Sex and the City movie is all fine and good but I really need to know when the bus is coming. I hope reposting the schedule is the final step of the installation.
Considering how often the bus runs down Vanderbilt, this shelter should get a lot of use. Hope we also get them on Myrtle and Dekalb.
